Eligibility Criteria for Hotel Management 2025

After the Covid-19 pandemic, the hotel industry in India and abroad has transformed its hiring process.
In line with this, Herbarium Institute of International Hotel Studies (HIIHS), Vikaspuri, New Delhi, has updated its eligibility criteria for aspiring hospitality professionals.

To be eligible for a Hotel Management (HM) program, candidates must have passed Class XII from a recognized board such as CBSE, NIOS, or any state board, with a minimum passing percentage. For degree-level courses like BHM (Bachelor of Hotel Management) or BHMCT (Bachelor of Hotel Management and Catering Technology), many reputed institutions require candidates to appear for entrance exams such as the NCHMCT JEE (National Council for Hotel Management Joint Entrance Examination), AIMA UGAT (All India Management Association Under Graduate Aptitude Test), or relevant state-level exams.

At HIIHS, we look for students who are not only academically qualified but also presentable, passionate, and carry a constant smile—hallmarks of a true hospitality professional. Additionally, students must be open to learning both German and English, as language fluency is vital in the global hospitality industry. Proficiency in English is particularly important, as it serves as the primary language of instruction and day-to-day hotel operations.

The admission process in hospitality institutes is competitive and demanding, ensuring only dedicated and capable students make it to the top. To succeed in this field, you must be hardworking and willing to put in extra hours, especially to master culinary techniques, wine knowledge, flair bartending, juggling, and other essential hospitality skills.

Moreover, professionalism in appearance is critical. Candidates with visible tattoos or piercings on the tongue, eyebrows, or multiple ear piercings may not meet the grooming standards expected in the industry. A clean, elegant appearance reflects your discipline, charisma, and suitability for this career.

Age requirements vary by course. For BHM or Diploma programs, the minimum age is 17 years. However, for certificate courses—such as those in Front Office, Housekeeping, Bakery, and others—even a Class X pass-out can apply, offering flexibility for early starters in the industry.

Among the top private hotel management colleges in India, HIIHS offers exceptional value, with a nominal fee of ₹4,35,000 for the complete three-year program, providing world-class training at a competitive cost.
